Grassroots Gaia: Open-Source Regenerative Design Community
Here at GrassrootsGaia.org we seek a sane, sustainable global society of sovereign citizens, and believe that our species already has all the tools we need to enact one.
Grassroots Gaia is a global network of independent, self-sovereign sustainable design entities. The basic structure is explained below, but there will be deviations from the prototype, depending on your local political, economic, and physical climate. We are currently seeking and developing pilot programs in colleges and in urban settings.
How The Design Community Works
There are three physical components of the prototype:
- Regenerative Design Laboratory
- Community Outreach/implementation
- Opensource Internet Dispersal
All three of these components are interwoven at each laboratory in the design community network. Each laboratory functions near the intersection of the .edu and .com and .org domains, and if alliances are formed, can be capitalized through all three vehicles. We at Permaculture Cooperative will be posting further content, including examples, in coming weeks, and we welcome everybody else to join the Grassroots Gaia community and contribute.
How You Can Help Build The New Paradigm
- Join this website -- observe and contribute
- Come to our workshop at the US Social Forum, 22-26 June 2010
- Develop a local support network -- here and in your community
- Start a pilot program in your community -- we are building the blueprints here
Despite having the tools, our species does not practice methods of sustainable commerce, industry, agriculture, or settlement patterns. Consequently, we are experiencing instabilities of the socio-economic and ecological systems which support our life functions. The premise at GrassrootsGaia.org is that we don't have time to wait for the complete development of a new paradigm, but that we must develop it as we go, disseminate our OpenSource methods as we are developing them, and iteratively improve upon these methods via internet feedback within the global network. We invite you to join us here, and to replicate our efforts in your own community.
